A bloke who bagged a massive £4.5 million lottery windfall admitted grabbing his partner by the throat and booting her, a year after he left his wife for her.

Barry Chuwen, 54, and his wife Jenny, 55, spent most of their lottery winnings on luxury properties across Glasgow after they won £4.5 million in 1997.

Barry, 27 at the time, was a hairdresser when he became the winner of one of Scotland’s biggest ever lotteries. On top of properties, the couple splashed out on posh skiing and golfing holidays, as well as a fleet of supercars.

But not long after their big win, their lives were turned upside down when Barry cheated on her with work a colleague, leading to their eventual divorce.

And now, The Sun reports, Mcleod was the victim of violence from Chuwen at his Paisley home. They got together last year after Chuwen's spilt from his wife. Both Mcleod and Jenny worked for his firm MQ Estate Agents.

His lawyer Charlie McCusker told Paisley Sheriff Court: “He has been struggling despite good fortune in the past. His personal life is a bit of a mess.”

Chuwen added: "During this difficult time in our lives, I developed a relationship with someone who I met through work. I have apologised to Jenny and our children.”

He pled guilty to attacking Ms McLeod. His lawyer said Chuwen was in “temporary” digs then “rented accommodation” following his arrest.

Sheriff McGinty told Chuwen: “I found your partner to be believable I don’t find you believable in the slightest.”

It comes after it was revealed that Scotland’s charity regulator has launched a probe into a charity set up by Chuwen and his ex-wife.

They set up “The Teddy Bear Foundation” to help kids with special needs after their son Ted was stillborn three months premature after suffering from a rare condition called Edwards syndrome.

Charity watchdog OSCR is currently investigating after serious concerns were raised about "governance and financial controls” at the organisation.

The OSCR are understood to be investigating payments which were made by the charity to a company connected to one of its trustees last year.

Barry previously admitted to the Daily Record that the investigation put his marriage under “a lot of stress”.
