Prosecutors filed first-degree murder charges Tuesday against a man connected to a July homicide in Adams County.

Jacob Schadler, 26, faces charges of first-degree murder, motor vehicle theft, driving under the influence, criminal mischief and theft, according to a news release from the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

In the early morning of Thursday, July 27, Adams County sheriff deputies responded to a call in the 15000 block of Iola Street and found a 26-year-old woman dead in the residence.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s department, Schadler fled the scene and deputies distributed a description of the vehicle to nearby police departments.

Later that morning, when police in Castle Rock responded to a crash, officers connected the vehicle involved to the homicide investigation and took Schadler into custody.
