Armed cops swarm pub after man shot in back and another hit in head with axe

Armed police were spotted swarming a pub shortly after receiving reports that a man had been shot in the back, while another was hit in the head with an axe.
Cops were forced to lock punters inside the Red Lion pub in Redruth, Cornwall, last night (July 6) after they found two wounded men, who were both taken to hospital.
Devon and Cornwall Police said in an update that two men have been arrested suspicion of attempted murder following the shocking incident.
A spokesperson for the force told CornwallLive: "A man in his 40s from Redruth and a man in his 30s from Camborne have both been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
"Both remain in police custody and await questioning. Police continue to appeal for information which may assist our enquiries, including dash-cam and CCTV footage in the area."
"It was reported that two men within a property had sustained injuries – both have been taken to hospital.
The force said yesterday that the man who was shot is in a “life-threatening condition,” while the man who took an axe to the head sustained a “serious” injury.
"One man has sustained a suspected gunshot wound to the back which is currently being treated as life-threatening.
"A second man was reported to have been assaulted with an axe and sustained a serious head injury.”
Cops added that a police helicopter was also called to the area.
DS Jon Bancroft, the senior investigating officer for the horrific case, said: “Detectives and specialist officers are deployed to support our initial investigation and we will provide further information in due course.
“I would urge anyone with information which may assist our enquiries, including dash-cam and CCTV footage in the area, to get in touch and report it to us.”
