Performer tragically dies at UK music festival moments after arriving on-site

A performer at a UK music festival tragically passed away just moments after he arrived at the site.

Emergency services rushed to the Eden Festival in the St Ann's area of Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, on Sunday (June 11) afternoon after receiving reports that a man had collapsed.

Paramedics attended to the performer, who has not yet been named but has partially been identified by police as a 49-year-old male who was due to play at the festival.

Sadly, he passed away just minutes later,the Daily Record reported.

Police have said that his untimely death is not currently being treated as suspicious.

A statement from Eden Festival read: "Eden Festival is saddened to report the tragic and sudden death of a performer arriving at the festival.

"He was attended to on-site by our medical team, who were assisted by Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland.

"The festival sends its deepest sympathies to family members and wish that they be given privacy at this time."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.45pm on Sunday, 11 June, 2023, officers were made aware of concern for a person at a festival in the St Ann’s area.

“Emergency services attended and a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The festival was hosting major acts over the weekend, with Sister Sledge and General Levy both performing sets.

The unnamed man isn’t the first person to die in the 2023 festival season.

In May, Essex cops launched a drug probe to investigate the sudden deaths of a man and woman at the Basildon Dance Music Festival.

The two people, both in their 20s, died shortly after the all-day rave,the Mirror reported.

Essex Police said at the time: "Emergency services attended and the woman, aged in her 20s, was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

"Very sadly, she later died. Her death is being treated as unexpected and under investigation and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances which led to her becoming unwell.

"Separately, we have also received a report of the sudden death of a man aged in his 20s.

"His death is being treated as unexpected and unexplained, but, at this stage, not suspicious. Further enquiries will be carried out to identify a cause of death.”
