Putin readies 16 nuclear bombers on border with Finland and Norway, images show2 min read
New satellite images show Russia is appearing to ramp up its war efforts after 16 nuclear-capable strategic bomber planes were seen on the border with Finland and Norway.
War mad President Vladimir Putin was reported last week as claiming he would let the war go on for as long as it took Russia to win.
And that now seems true, according to new images posted on social media from above its Olenya Air Base.

The base is located in the Kola Peninsula, which is inside Russia, but near the border with both Finland and Norway – just 124 miles way from the area.
It is also not that far from Sweden, as the Norway border goes around the outer edges of the country.
New satellite images were posted on social media by expert MT Anderson.
They were taken on May 7, and show 16 nuclear-capable planes lined up and ready to go.
Included in those are 14 Tu-95 aircraft, which have been used to launch missiles into Ukraine in recent weeks.
According to anti-Kremlin Russian news site Meduza: “A radio observer monitoring Russian strategic aviation said that aircraft took off from the Olenya Air Base nearly every day last week, including to participate in combat missions in Ukraine.”

There are also two Tu-160 planes, which are supersonic strategic heavy bombers built during the Soviet Union ear and capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
Since Putin first ordered his troops to invade Ukraine, he has seen 308 of his aircraft downed in combat, alongside 294 helicopters.
Nearly 200,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in combat, with another 598,380 injured so badly that they can no longer return to the front line to carry out Putin's orders.
The figures have come from Ukraine's officials, with Russia refusing to give accurate reporting since the invasion began.
