Missing Glen Haven man found dead after days-long search

A Glen Haven man who went missing in Larimer County on Friday evening has been found dead.
Jerry Allbright, 53, was last seen April 14 after he left his home on foot and did not return, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. Allbright texted family members early the next day saying he was lost in the mountains, and they called the sheriff’s office that afternoon after they couldn’t find him.
Cellphone data indicated the text message came from a mile and a half away from the road Allbright’s house is on, but search and rescue attempts were unsuccessful.
The sheriff’s office on Wednesday said a search crew found a man’s body believed to be Allbright on Tuesday evening, but due to the hazardous terrain and fading light, the team couldn’t recover the body.
The Larimer County Coroner, investigators and a ground recovery crew returned to the location Wednesday morning to complete the recovery.
“While this isn’t the outcome we hoped for, we take comfort in knowing Jerry will be returned to his family,” the sheriff’s office said. “Please continue to keep them in your thoughts during this time of loss.”
