A female New York police officer who gave her senior lieutenant a lap dance at a Christmas party shared a teary-eyed video as she talked about feeling too embarrassed to leave her house.
In an emotional video, she apologised to the lieutenant's wife and said that if she were a man who did something similar it wouldn't be nearly as big a deal.
Speaking to TMZ, NYPD rookie Vera Mekuli said that she hasn't spoken to the lieutenant since the infamous party and hasn't been comfortable showing up at her precinct.
Ms Mekuli said that her fellow NYPD officers were pretty understanding and even allowed her to work from home.
However, she said that eventually wants to return to the police precinct and then go back to duty on the streets.
After the incident, Vera Mekuli's dad has warned he will sue over the incident, adding that the married lieutenant she danced for should know better.
In the viral video, the 26-year-old can be seen grinding against Lt. Nick McGarry's lap as he excitedly sits on a chair in the middle of a bar surrounded by colleagues.

Ms Mekuli, who had no idea that her boss was married, had only been working at that precinct for four months.
The New York Police Department has transferred Lt. McGarry to another department with immediate effect while it investigates the raunchy incident caught on camera.
Before shutting it down, Mekuli's LinkedIn profile described her as a “highly motivated and determined individual.”

The former estate agent's bio continued to say: “I tend to go after what I want and I don’t stop until I get it. If I am to fail. I pick myself up and try again.
Mekuli, from the Bronx area of New York, joined the NYPD in February but before completing her first year in the job she has become the centre of a Christmas party scandal.
Footage of the dance shows her performing several different moves on top of 44th Precinct Lt. Nick McGarry in the Yonkers bar on December 16.
