A heartless man ended up stealing thousands of pounds from his ex-girlfriend when he lifted up her eyelids while she slept and emptied her bank account.
Huang, a 28-year-old in Nanning, China, is now in jail after taking advantage of the face recognition feature on his sleeping partner's phone to break into the funds.
The theft began when the woman, identified only with her family name Dong, went back to Huang's house for a meal.
According to local reports, it was there he laced her food with cold medicine, which caused her to become tired and fall asleep.
While she slept, Huang unlocked her Huawei device by lifting up her hand and user her fingerprints to activate the touch function.
Logging in to the payment app Alipay by taking lifting her eyelids and using the face recognition function, he then transferred 150,000 yuan — almost £18,000 — out of her account.
It is reported that Huang resorted to the crime after racking up huge gambling debts, and desperately needed money to pay them off.
Dong realised she had been targeted when she woke up the next morning and found a text from her bank informing her that she had made a large transfer.
An investigation led to Huang being busted by police a few months later. He was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison in court, and was made to pay a fine of 20,000 yuan (£2,400).
Dong broke up with Huang after the incident.
