Brexit tensions continue to run high in a row over the Northern Ireland protocol, with the threat to trigger Article 16 of the hated agreement still on the cards. Lord Frost is expected to up the ante in high-stakes talks with his opposite number today. It comes as the European fishing licence deadline looms despite Downing Street not recognising the bloc’s cut-off. France claims Britain is still to issue 53 licences, with Annick Girardin, France’s Minister for the Sea urging the EU to launch litigation proceedings against Britain.
