On one of the busiest travel days of the year, those headed into the mountains might want to be extra careful. Slick conditions could exist ahead of Thanksgiving, shaping up to be a perfect day for your backyard football game.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Denver will reach a blustery 45 degrees on Wednesday under mostly cloudy skies. The stark change comes after Tuesday just missed a record high as temperatures soared into the 70s.
There’s a 20% chance of snow after lunch on Wednesday, with gusts howling to 23 mph. The overnight low will dip to 21 degrees. Light snow is falling in the hills Wednesday morning and showers will continue into the evening. Two inches on roadways is possible in spots.
Thanksgiving Day will be mild, with a high of 55 degrees and a low of 32 degrees. While clear, there could be winds over 15 mph in the evening. Thursday will be the first of several days ahead, with mild temperatures and low humidity, bringing elevated fire danger to the region.
Friday brings a return to the 60s under sunny skies.
