Forecasters with the Met Office have predicted a gloomy weekend for some of the UK. Those living in the southeast, especially around the coast, will have to reckon with yellow weather warnings. According to the service, people may experience significant delays due to wind and rain that might scupper some of their weekend plans.

One yellow warning currently covers most of the southeast coast in a strip from Norwich to Weymouth.

The affected area will see strong winds accompanied by inches of rain over a matter of hours.

The forecast predicts a spell of  “strong southerly winds” will affect “some southern and eastern parts of England.”

Winds will descend over the weekend, starting from 1pm on Saturday.

The warning – which lasts until 10pm on the same day – predicts winds could reach gale force levels.

Gusts could reach 45 to 55mph generally, up to 65mph on exposed areas of the coast.

Heavy rain will accompany them as an “additional hazard”.

Inches of rain could fall over Saturday, as the Met Office predicts between 30 to 40mm (1 to 1.5 inches) in three to six hours.
