Before Jeffrey Dahmer became known as ‘The Milwaukee Cannibal’ who murdered, dismembered, and cannibalized 17 victims, he appeared to be just like any other teenage boy.
Sky, awkward and nervous about taking a girl on a date to senior prom.
And a chilling photo has since emerged of that very night in 1978.
In it, Dahmer, then 18, stands rigidly next to his date, Bridget Geiger, who was 16.
His arms hang by his side as he gazes into the distance wearing his suit.
Bridget is beside him, having no idea the boy taking her to the dance would soon turn into a notorious monster.
Shortly after the photo was taken, a young Dahmer took his first life.
Bridget has since spoken to The Plain Dealer newspaper about what it was like going to prom with a serial killer.
She described him as painfully shy and said he was bullied at Revere High School in Ohio because he was a “nerd”.
Dahmer reportedly went missing in the night to scoff a McDonald’s because he was too shy to eat in front of Bridget during dinner.
And after the weird date, it wasn’t long before Dahmer turned into a killer.
Having just graduated high school, he picked up a hitchhiker, Steven Hicks, and drove him to his parents’ house.
There, he struck him in the head and strangled him with a barbell.
The body was dismembered with different parts being dumped in plastic bags before being buried nearby.
Dahmer didn’t kill again for nine years, but afterwards, he couldn’t stop.
His victims were either men or boys and he cut their lives short in the cruelest of ways between 1978 and 1991.
He was known to keep the skulls and genitals of some of his victims as trophies.
But Dahmer was finally caught after his last target escaped and notified the cops.
He was sentenced to life but became infamous at Wisconsin’s Columbia Correctional Institution for his warped sense of humour.
Dahmer played with his dinner, using ketchup for blood and other food bits as severed limbs.
He met his own brutal death on November 28, 1994, when fellow inmate Christopher Scarver used a 10-inch metal bar to beat him with.
Dahmer took his final breath on his way to the hospital.
Scarver said afterwards: “He started looking for the door pretty quick. I blocked him. He ended up dead. I put his head down.”
Netflix has announced a horror series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story about the killer’s life and crimes.
The murderer is portrayed by Evan Peters and is expected to be released in Spring 2022.
