Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, is said to have called it quits on the relationship after realising she wasn't cut out for royal life, an author has said.
The Duke's former partner reportedly ended the romance after seeing Prince William and Kate Middleton tie the knot in 2011.
A royal author has claimed she broke it off when she knew she could 'never make sacrifices' like Kate.
Harry has since found his perfect partner in Meghan Markle, but his former girlfriend struggled to deal with the spotlight which came with dating a prince.
Even though becoming a princess and living in a palace may seem the ultimate dream for some, it isn't always plain sailing, and often comes with constant scrutiny and private life being broadcasted into the spotlight.
It's said Kate and William's extravagant wedding proved to her the royal life wasn't what she wanted.
Chelsy, a Zimbabwean layer, met Harry in school, and the pair had an on-off relationship, writes The Mirror.
Robert Lacey, royal biographer, states in his Battle of Brothers book, that it was shortly after the Cambridges exchanged their vows where Chelsy ended their romance.

He writes: "In 2011, after more comings and goings, she finally decided to go – and it was, ironically, Kate and William's grand and glorious wedding that spring that did it for her.
"According to a friend, she told Harry that she could never make the scarifies she had witnessed Kate making, particularly when it came to moulding her life around the unremitting attention of the press."

However, it wasn't only Chelsy who decided royal life wasn't in their future, Cressida Bonas, White House Farm actress, also split from the Duke.
The Burberry model met Harry in 2012 and the pair dated on and off for two years.
Robert explains in his book she became "spooked" by William and Kate's royal tour of Australia.
He claims: "A rising actress, Cressida did not enjoy the critical remarks that she could hear people making behind her back when she walked down the street in London – she felt that the fame of her relationship put her 'in a box'.
"In 2014, she was said to have been 'completely spooked' after watching the TV coverage of William and Kate touring New Zealand with baby George in tow – that was not the way she would want to enjoy her eight-month-old son, she regretfully explained to Harry."
Both Chelsy and Cressida attended Harry's wedding to Meghan, with Chelsy running her own company and Cressida now married to husband Harry Wentworth-Stanley.
The Duke moved to California with Meghan, where they live with their children Archie and Lilibet Diana after they quit royal life.
