Harry and Meghan risk ‘running out of currency’ after major deals, claims expert

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's various book and podcast deals since their move to California last year means they may face the threat of running out of currency, according to a royal expert.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have remained in the media spotlight since they stepped down as senior royals, signing big-money deals with the likes of Spotify and Netflix as well as their bombshell televised interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Harry also appeared on the Apple TV series The Me You Can't See, in which he spoke candidly about his life growing up as part of the Royal Family, The Mirror reports.

Last month, it was announced he is set to release an "accurate and wholly truthful" tell-all memoir in 2022 that will share the "experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him".

Appearing on True Royalty TV's the Royal Beat, the Vanity Fair royal editor Katie Nicholl questioned what the couple will have left to share after these deals have been done.

She asked: "I think the biggest threat to Harry and Meghan, once these book deals are done and the podcasts are done and Spotify, then what is their currency?"

According to a source, a "tsunami of fear" erupted within royal circles when it was announced that Harry will release the memoir.

Despite the Duke of Sussex working on the book with American ghostwriter J.R. Moehringer for almost a year, the Royal Family were still said to be caught off-guard by the announcement of the book.

Despite this, Katie claimed that the royals will bounce back from whatever Harry includes in the book.

She said: "This book will make the Royal Family very nervous as will many events of the future.

"But it will come good for them because the Royal Family will always be the Royal Family.

"So I suppose there is a level of comfort in that, when you see how history has played out until now."

This week, Harry is gearing up to celebrate Meghan's milestone birthday on Wednesday, when she will turn 40.

Reportedly, Meghan is using Oprah Winfrey's party planner to organise the bash at the pair's £11 million Santa Barbara mansion.

Harry, 36, has ordered a cake from local baker Posies & Sugar, while on the day guests will enjoy “grazing tables” with locally sourced foods and wines from neighbouring vineyards.

A source said: “Megan wants a small gathering. About 65 people are invited, her closest friends and family."
