Daredevil influencer, 32, dies in horror fall off waterfall while taking selfie

A social media star has died after falling off a waterfall while trying to take a selfie to share with her 6,000 Instagram followers.

Sofia Cheung, 32, fell 16 feet to her death into the Tsing Dai stream near Yuen Long, Hong Kong on Saturday.

She had spent the day with three friends at Ha Pak Lai nature park before the tragedy unfolded.

Sofia, whose Instagram page lists hiking, kayaking, exploring, outdoor activities, and photography as her passions, had climbed up to the top of the waterfall to take the photos later that day when she lost her footing and fell into the water.

Her friends immediately called emergency services, and paramedics were able to get Sofia to a hospital in Hong Kong, but she was tragically pronounced dead on arrival.

Her Instagram page declares: "Life should be fun not dumb" and is filled with photographs of her enjoying her past times.

The last photo shared from her account with its 6,314 followers, was published on July 9 and has since been flooded with emotional tributes and moving messages to the dead influencer.

One heartbroken follower wrote: "“I thought better days are coming. I will miss your chat every day. I love you always. Rest in peace my pretty Sofi."

Dozens of others posted "RIP" with numerous emojis to remember the 32-year-old.

Earlier this year, an influencer who was run over by a truck after she fell off a motorbike broke 28 bones and fractured five vertebrae in the accident.

Beatriz Rabi, 19, said she was on a motorbike with her dad when the pair fell off as they rode over a sandy patch in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

She was then caught up in a near-death accident as a large truck run over her as she hit the road.

The influencer, known for her travel and lifestyle content remained conscious during the accident but lost feeling in her leg.

Fortunately, the teen was well enough to thank her 72,000 followers for their well wishes.
