BBC Weather forecaster Carol Kirkwood noted that there were multiple yellow warnings in effect across the country for thunderstorms. While it will still remain warm and humid, many parts of the country will experience heavy rain and in some cases thunderstorms. There will be breaks of sunshine in between the outbreaks, however.

A weather front from France is expected to bring the first bout of thunderstorms from the continent.

Once this passes into the north of the UK, a new weather front will move in from the Atlantic and bring more thunderstorms to the west of the UK and Northern Ireland.

Ms Kirkwood said: “For the next few days the forecasts is still with some thunder downpours.

“We won’t all see them, the Met Office has various yellow warnings out for them and there will be some sunny spells.

“The best of the sunshine will mostly be in the north and the west.

“We have got a lot of rain around at the moment, it is quite a messy picture.

“We have got this band coming up in from the southwest and another that has already caused thunderstorms in Paris and it is moving northwards.

“We will get thunderstorms from it as well.”
