Drug kingpin El Chapo's beauty queen wife is expected to plead guilty to helping to run multibillion-dollarcriminal empire, a report has claimed.
Emma Coronel Aispuro is due to enter her plea in court in the US tomorrow.
The 31-year-old was arrested by police following a two-year probe into her husband's shady dealings.
Formerly head of Mexico's Sinaloa drug cartel, El Chapo's real name is Joaquín Guzmán.
In 2019, he was sentenced life in a US prison after being convicted of running the notorious international drug syndicate.
Coronel, 31, has agreed a plea deal with prosecutors, meaning she won't have to provide details about his affairs, the New York Times reports.
She stands accused of helping to run her 62-year-old husband's drug business and involvement in his infamous escape from a maximum security prison in Mexico in 2015.
El Chapo, who was once regarded as the most powerful drug trafficker in the world, has escaped from prison twice.
At the time of his second arrest in 2014, he imported more drugs into the United States than anyone else.

Coronel's uncle was late drug kingpin Igancio "Nacho" Coronel – one of El Chapo's most trusted men.

She is also thought to have been involved in trying to bribe a top Mexican official when El Chapo was recaptured in 2016 after his escape.
