Family buy run-down wreck and turn it into £1.2m dream home with sea views

2 min read

Being able to see the potential in something has paid off in a huge way for one lucky family.

When the Doys purchased West View Farm, in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Wales, it was little more than a pile of rubble and dust, reports Wales Online.

Sitting in 16 acres of mainly flat countryside allows the house to enjoy sweeping rural vistas to the coast and to the historic Roch castle, views that totally surround the home with only your own woodland to interrupt the horizon.

And to make the property even more desirable, it's just a mile or so from the sands of Newgale Beach.

Although it hasn't always been that way and photos of the house when the family bought it show a dark mound of mess which had what had previously been a barn adjacent to it and a thicket of overgrown grass allaround.

But looking at the home as it is now things couldn't be more different.

The main addition to the former tumbledown house is an end wing that has been designed to fully capture the mesmerising views on both floors.

It has floor-to-ceiling windows and doors completely covering the end of the new extension.

Downstairs the lounge can boast the prime position in the glass section of this house.

Sitting looking out of the doors and windows with the views on three sides, makes you feel like you are almost fully immersed by the countryside, even on a bad weather day.

On a good weather day, throw open the doors that lead directly to the sunny terrace and a bench with maybe the best rural views in the area.

This main lounge is vast and, although light and airy, it is given a welcoming warmth not only by the use of blond-toned wood flooring but a substantial log burner in the substantial fireplace.

Upstairs, of course, it's the master that bags the best spot for a bedroom, with this space also benefiting from the floor-to-ceiling window panel design.

With the addition of a Juliet balcony, the doors can be flung open up here too – just don't try and step out.

West View Farm is on the market for offers over £1.2m with estate agent JJ Morris, call their Haverfordwest branch on 01437 760440 to find out more.
