Denver street sweeping parking rules go into effect and violators face fines

Denver’s street sweeping program starts today and parking violators could be hit with a $50 fine.

The sweeping program requires people to move their vehicles on “street sweeping day” so crews can operate effectively and unencumbered, according to a news release.

Sweeping days are indicated by red and white signs posted on Denver blocks. Residents can sign up for sweeping reminders, delivered to their phones and tablets, at Violators face a $50 fine for parking in a tow-away zone.

Street sweeping helps to keep dirt and debris out of the city’s water system, preventing clogged storm sewer inlets, and it keeps our air cleaner, the release said. Moving vehicles allows sweepers to clean the streets all the way to the curb, maximizing the sweep.
