The names involved in a domestic-related, double murder-suicide have been released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
Suni Grooms, 34, and her 1-month-old daughter, Atlas Grooms, have had their deaths ruled homicides.
Denton Roberts, 38, is being ruled a suicide.
All three died from gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Denver police found their bodies while conducting a welfare check on Jan. 13 in the 1700 block of South Logan Street in the Platt Park neighborhood.
Police confirmed that Roberts was in a relationship with Suni Groom and was Atlas’s father.
Grooms, originally from Brush, worked at Parker Adventist Hospital as an ICU nurse.
Lindsay Radford, director of external and field communications, wrote in a statement that The Centura Health community was “heartbroken over the loss of Suni Grooms and her daughter.”
“Suni faithfully served as a nurse at Parker Adventist Hospital since 2012 and was instrumental in our COVID-19 response,” it read. “Her loss will be deeply felt by every caregiver on our team. Suni was known for her infectious smile, the warmth that radiated from her generous heart and her commitment to serving her faith and community.”
