Brexit: Andrew Bridgen praises trade deal with the EU

Mr Bridgen told LBC the deal agreed by the UK’s Prime Minister and his chief Brexit negotiator is far better than the Government thought they would ever get. The European Research Group member added that Mr Johnson and Lord Frost have played a blinder for Britain.

Mr Bridgen said: “From what I can see of it, it is a far better deal than we thought we would ever get.

“I think you have got to bear in mind that as a Eurosceptic for decades and someone who campaigned for the referendum originally if back in 2015 someone had said to me that in 2020, we are going to be in a position to take back control of our money, laws, borders and we can have our own free trade deals around the world I would have snapped your hands off for that.

“I think we have got to keep things into perspective.”

He added: “To be honest I think the Prime Minister and Lord Frost have played a blinder for the UK.”

The trade deal has yet to be ratified by the European or UK Parliament ahead of the December 31 2020 deadline.

This morning, the Chancellor of the Exchequer hailed the impact the UK Government’s post-Brexit trade agreement will have on the future of Britain.
