A young woman has been found guilty of murdering her boyfriend in a "fit of temper".

Ellie Wain, 18, stabbed "loving" Kieran Brown four times during a scuffle outside their home.

She claimed she acted in self-defence but was convicted by a jury at Coventry Crown Court today.

Tragic Kieran's family said the 18-year-old was killed by Ellie Wain in a “fit of temper because things weren’t going her way”, CoventryLive reports.

Wain was armed with a knife when the pair ended up in an altercation outside their home on Middle Ride in Willenhall on June 1 this year.

She plunged it into him four times during the fight – one of which went 12cm deep in to his chest and pierced his heart.

Kieran was driven to hospital by his father but died soon after arriving at around 10.10pm.

Wain was arrested and claimed she had the knife for self-defence and that Kieran had accidentally been stabbed.

A jury at Coventry Crown Court found that she was guilty of murder today, Monday, December 21.

The court had heard the pair’s on-off relationship was volatile and that she had been drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis that day.

Kieran’s family have described him as “a kind loving son, grandson and great grandson”.

In a statement they added: “His life was cut short by the cruel actions of Ellie Wain in a fit of temper because things weren’t going her way.

“We won’t see Kieran grow into a man, he won’t get married or have children. There is no sentence that will bring Kieran back our family are living a life sentence of our own – a huge hole has been left where Kieran should be.

“Ellie is young and will get to have a life at some point. She has taken this opportunity from Kieran."

Detective Inspector Adam Jobson, from West Midlands Police CID, said: "If Wain hadn’t armed herself with the knife, she would not have been able to inflict the fatal injuries she did, and Kieran would still be alive today.

“This will now mean she loses her freedom for a long time.

“This is yet another reminder of the fatal consequences that carrying and using knives can have.

“I urge anyone that picks up a knife to stop and think before it’s too late… there is no going back."

Wain will be sentenced tomorrow, Tuesday, December 22.
