Melania Trump ‘grim-faced’ next to Donald Trump as ‘gloves come off’

Donald Trump's wife Melania appeared at a White House briefing with a "grim face" as the US president gave a speech falsely claiming victory in the election.

The First Lady walked out on the podium alongside her husband at the news conference but the pair had no contact as Trump vowed to contest the close presidential election against Joe Biden.

Body language expert Judi James claimed Melania's mood appeared to have been reflected in her facial expression and her "funeral black" outfit.

Melania is seen flashing a quick smile on the stage before her expression quickly turns stone-cold.

At the end of Mr Trump's speech, she claps her husband to show support and leaves the stage without any physical contact.

She shoots off so quickly that she'd actually vanished before President Trump left the stage himself.

Judi told Mirror Online: "Melania’s signal facial expression can be beautifully impassive and Sphynx-like but the mood-change today was dramatic, even though the actual expression changes were subtle.

"Gone was the wide smile she had used during the election campaign, which had been so strong that people had even started to ask if she were a body double.

"In its place was a grim mouth-clamp as she gazed at her husband in her funereal black trouser suit and while Trump’s kids buzzed about grinning excitedly as though celebrating a big win, it was Melania’s appearance that told a very different story."

She also said Melania's appearance told a "very different story" to Trump's children, who grins excitedly as if celebrating a big win.

Judi claimed the "raising of her chin had the most impact", as it acted "like a gesture of defiance" that matched her husband's narrative.

"There was no contact between the pair on stage but Melania did seem to echo the idea that the smiles have died as the gloves have come off," she added.
