The majority of voters (61 percent) would not want US President Donald Trump’s children to run for president. In the poll, commissioned by the Independent, only 16 percent of voters believe Mr Trump Jr should pursue a career in politics.

Just 35 percent of Trump supporters would agree with Mr Trump Jr pursuing the top job.

When it comes to his sister, Ivanka, less Trump supporters backed the idea of her ruling for president.

Only 31 percent of voters believed she would be qualified to run for president.

Meanwhile, 36 percent of those who participated in the poll would not like her to pursue the presidency.

JL Partners interviewed 1,002 Americans from October 26 to October 28 for the poll.

Mr Trump Jr has so been deeply involved in his father’s re-election campaign.

Last week, he posted a photograph on his Instagram that showed him proudly posing next to a sign in Nevada that read: “Don Jr 2024.”

He captioned the post: “Oh boy. This was a sign I saw up at the Fallon Nevada Livestock Auction.

“This will make the lib heads explode.

“To whomever made that thanks for the compliment… but let’s get through 2020 with a big win first!!!!”

But despite the bad ratings found by the poll, some believe Mr Trump Jr could continue his father’s political legacy should he lose the upcoming election.

Speaking to the Independent, Rob Goldstone, a PR who worked with Mr Trump, said: “If we see Trump getting voted out on 3 November, I don’t think it’ll be the end of Trumpism.

“I think we’ll see Don Jr go into politics – he loves to hunt, and he’s had a taste of blood.

“If anyone was to enter politics it’d be him.”

However, a former White House official claimed President Trump was preparing his daughter Ivanka to take over as President.

Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, former senior advisor to First Lady Melania Trump, made the claim during an interview with Channel 9 Australia’s 60 Minutes.

She claimed the Trumps are trying to “fleece the nation” by keeping each other in power.

She added: “The fact that he’s literally getting Ivanka ready to become a President and already putting that in people’s minds is just insane.”

Ms Trump has served as an advisor to her father since 2017, attending official events and rallies on a regular basis.

The former official added that the First Lady has taken a step aside for the First Daughter as she prepares to become President.

Of Ms Trump, Ms Wolkoff said: “She has succumbed to her stepdaughter’s ability to squash her as the First Lady to do anything effective to affect change.

“If Donald had to pick between, you know, branding Ivanka or branding Melania, well, he’s already shown us who he’s branded, right?”
