Donald Trump’s daughter appeared at the rally in Tampa, Florida over the weekend alongside Richard Grenell, former US ambassador to Germany and the first openly gay person to serve in the US cabinet. But Tiffany’s appearance at the event drew major criticism from onlookers who noted she stumbled over her words as she dressed the crowd. The youngest Trump daughter also recently drew criticism for partying in Florida despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
During her appearance at Saturday’s rally, Ms Trump defended her father’s record on LGBTQ+ laws during his presidency.
She said: “My dad doesn’t look at someone … based on who you love. There should be love for all. I know what my father believes in.”
She also said her father “supported gays, lesbians, the LGBQIA+ community’, while skipping the T in the acronym standing for the transgender community.
Ms Trump then said: “My father has always supported all of you.
“He’s never done it for politics, and unfortunately there’s a lot of people out there — politicians — who do.”
Ms Trump’s appearance at the rally drew major criticism from Twitter users, who noted her “chaotic” speech glossed over Mr Trump’s laws repealing rights for LGBTQ+ Americans.
One user said: “I know before this we thought Tiffany might be the only adult Trump kid who turned out to be a semi-decent person but clearly, the apple doesn’t fall far from the treason.”
Another added: “Tiffany Trump is the epitome of an entitled rich white girl who wants to pretend she knows wtf she’s talking about.”
One user questioned the crowds’ reaction to the speech, and said: “Serious question: How many of the folks at that Tiffany Trump “PRIDE” disaster were paid to be there?”
More social media reaction poured in savaging the Trump daughter for skipping transgender people when reciting the LGBTQ+ acronym.
One user said: “Let’s ask transgender people who used to be in the military how respected & supported they feel by Trump.
“Come on, Tiffany Trump. You know better. WE know better.”
Another was just embarrassed by the video and said: “Please everyone, stop sharing that cringeworthy Tiffany Trump video.
“I have reached my limit of embarrassment these people actually exist and rule our country.”
Ms Trump also drew criticism recently for her weekend-long party in Florida for her 27th birthday.
Social media users were outraged over the celebrations, with one user saying: “My co-worker died of COVID in March. We could not go to his funeral. His family buried him. #ByeTiffany.”
