Death cult ISIS has celebrated the 9/11 Twin Tower attacks which killed 2,977 people and injured 25,000 more as a "pivotal moment" in Islamic history in a sick statement.

For the first time ever, ISIS published a statement about the September 11 attacks in their propaganda newspaper Naba.

It is 19 years since the horrendous attack on New York, US.

The terror group hailed the Al Qaeda mass murder as a "pivotal moment" in Islamic history and said the group views itself as the inheritors of the "9/11 mission".

ISIS also said Al Qaeda had become "traitors of the jihadi cause" and said the organisation had become "short-sighted" in viewing "the US as its sole enemy."

SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors and analyses the the terror group, tweeted: "For the first time ISIS has published a statement for the anniversary of 9/11 in its Naba newspaper, celebrating the day as a pivotal moment in contemporary Islamic history, while lamenting what Al Qaeda has become: short-sighted in viewing the US as its sole enemy."

It comes as Americans come together with tributes to commemorate the lives lost in New York City on September 11, 2001.

To date, it is the single deadliest terror attack in human history, leaving 2,977 people killed and injuring a further 25,000.

Four passenger planes bound for California were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists, and two of the planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, crashed into the North and South towers.

The United States responded by launching the War on Terror and invading Afghanistan to get rid of the Taliban, which had failed to comply with US demands to expel al-Qaeda and extradite their leader Osama bin Laden.

At the height of the 2014 war, ISIS had seized control of large parts of Syria and Iraq to declare an Islamic "caliphate", committing atrocities, including kidnapping, rape and murder.

As the world grapples with the coronavirus pandemic ISIS have used the pandemic as a tool. hailing it as "God's little soldier" because it has infected 21 million.

The group are now urging their followers to "weaponise" the virus and purposefully spread it to "disbelievers" in western countries.
