A paedophile who raped a girl from the age of 12 for a five-year period has been jailed.

Adrian Donaldson, 37, from Tottenham, North London, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Appearing at Wood Green Crown Court today, he admitted seven counts of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

His abuse spanned between January 2015 and January 2020 as he abused a girl who was known to him.

Donaldson raped the victim two to three times a week after he had been binging on alcohol and taking drugs.

He pestered the girl, asking her to send nude photos and to visit him. When she did come round, he would force her to strip and rape her.

The victim fell pregnant with his child twice during 2017 and 2018. She had an abortion both times.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, lied to her mother that she fell pregnant by her boyfriend at school.

Donaldson threatened the girl and said if she revealed his abuse he'd tell everyone it was she who came on to him.

She was left feeling suicidal as she felt she could not report the horrific ordeals.

On January 25 police were called by the victim’s mother after she found out about the rapes and pregnancies.

Officers caught Donaldson trying to engage in sexual activity with the victim.

They arrested Donaldson for sexual assault by touching a female under 18 years old. He denied all allegations and stated that they were lies in interviews.

Following the victim's interview, Donaldson was arrested further for multiple counts of rape and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

Detective Sergeant Gill Cousins, of the North Area Basic Command Unit, said: “This is a horrific crime and the victim was subjected to a horrendous ordeal. The effects of these crimes on the victim will undoubtedly remain with her forever.

“I commend the bravery the victim has shown to help us bring this man to justice. I urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault either recently or historically to come forward and speak with police."
